Apollo

A photo of my altar for Apollo. There is a sunflower placemat. On top of it there is a yellow oil warmer with a pressed daffodil on top. Beside it is a black and gold round picture frame holding a personal collage I've made. In front of the frame is an orange candle in a jar.
Apollo's current altar!

As opposed to Aphrodite and Athena clicking into place in my mind as patrons that I've been devoted to, it took a bit for me to realize that Apollo has been fully within my life until quite recently in September 2023.

It's funny to me, as someone who was entrenched into music and band as a kid, as someone who considered himself a multi-instrumentalist. As someone who had countless improvisational sessions with my guitar or ukulele (my instruments of choice) alone in my room. As someone who also does live, improv performances with both instruments and my own voice in the vibrant musical scene in Vancouver.

Really, I should've seen this coming!

It really wasn't until I did some introspection and started HRT that I began to feel more of a call, or desire, or just pure content at the idea of worshipping him that I began to consider him another patron of mine.

I have also been experimenting more with using tarot as a way to communicate with my patrons. I already felt comfortable enough to recognize Athena's aid, but I am slowly trying to adjust to how to focus on my questions to Apollo. At the very least I've made some progress, as I got the equivalent of a 'headpat' in my last reading with him.

Being trans and on the road towards uncertainty towards my own body as a part of undergoing HRT has been a new center of focus in my life, and so I am very happy to at least have someone looking after me in that aspect.

As of right now, my altar for Apollo is quite small! I will say that the placemat that I found for it was such a coincidence, as I found it while making Athena's altar, which was before I felt the call to devote myself to Apollo. I am happy for the sense that I got to snag this up when I saw it though. It's so cute and tiny and I love the green and sunflowers on it!

Compared to the other two's altars, his is also on a shelf that isn't obstructed at the top, so I can light candles safely without a fear that it'll burn a hole in my bookshelf where my other altars are! (I am also very happy about this, because I have way too many candles and need to burn them frequently to finally get through them!)
